New Look Office
I’ve been hankering for a new desk and shelves for quite sometime. For a couple of years I’d been collecting photos of the types of desks I was interested in and had them sitting on my document holder. I’d look in Officeworks whenever they had specials but just couldn’t find what I was looking for, with respect to length and depth. Sometimes I thought perhaps I’d just buy a hutch and mount it on my old solid desk but again, I’d never find anything exactly the right width. Just prior to Christm

Learning to Decompress

generally i look forward to summer because it means warm weather, vacations and lazy days in the sun. but i have a whole new reason to look forward to this summer - the new charles & ray eames stamps! usps is releasing a set of 16 stamps in honor of the duo for "heir groundbreaking contributions to architecture, furniture design, manufacturing and photographic arts." i think i may need to frame a set - afterall, it's the cheapest i'll ever have to pay for a set of eames chairs in my house

Greetings from Arran
Well, we made it... just. It's been one of the hardest weeks of our lives and I never, ever want to go through it again. Having an 18-month old makes everything so much harder. Plus we had too much stuff. And all the lost weekends when people would invite us round during the only real packing time we had meant that, even after staying up the whole night before leaving, we still couldn't do it. Lorraine left with the kids on Tuesday morning at 6.15. It should have been 6.00 and, thanks to the To

No one has as much experience with shit as PMS. Her y

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and The Woodhouse Family
The Woodhouse family of Calahan, CO were astonished to learn that Ty Pennington and the gang would build them a safe and “cool” home in just seven days as part of the 50 state Extreme tour. The family had relocated to frigid Alaska in the hopes to decrease any recurrences that daughter, Kayla, might face due to her rare neurological disorder that lowers her sensitivity to pain and temperature called Hereditary Sensory Autonomic Neuropathy but finally settled in Calahan, CO. Kayla is one of on

Synchronicity seems to figure largely in this whole adventure of moving to the Northern Cariboo. There were improvements to the house we wanted to generate; we were told tradespeople would be difficult to come by. Qualicum Beach is an area where building and renovations go on constantly, with very little letup. We wanted the bedroom, still painted the same colour it was when we moved in, to be renewed with more serene paint. The en suite bathroom required fresh paint, as well. We wanted new ki

More on Leo Politi

LAT profiles the Los Angeles artist; Cecilia Rasmussen writes: In 1961, when their small house was condemned along with many other homes on Bunker Hill to clear the way for office skyscrapers, the Politi family moved to Angeleno Heights. But Politi continued to go to Bunker Hill, protesting through his paintings the demise of the historic neighborhood. His watercolor
